Youth Start Smart Program

The Reno Housing Authority is committed to providing opportunities for residents of all ages to set and reach goals and become self-sufficient by offering workforce development opportunities for teens and their parents to participate in coordinated services. Called Start Smart, the two-generation approach provides youth and their parents opportunities to gain knowledge and skill sets to ensure their future success.

Youth, in grades 9-12, who join the program will be given opportunities for leadership development, academic and social growth, and financial literacy. Participating youth can earn financial incentives of up to $20,000 while enrolled in the program, and those that complete their goals and graduate will be eligible to apply for an additional $10,000 scholarship award!!

Sponsorship opportunities are currently available to help us celebrate our 2024 class of graduates at the 2nd annual Start Smart Scholars night! Please click HERE to view the sponsorship packages available. For questions and inquiries, please reach out to RHA's Resident Services Administrator at abutler@renoha.org or 775-329-3630 ext. 223.

HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER

While submitting an application will not house someone tomorrow, it begins the process to obtain permanent affordable housing for low-income households. There is always more need for affordable housing than availability and households are encouraged to apply for all programs and waitlists for which they are eligible.  The wait for an offer of Public Housing or a Housing Choice Voucher may be months or years, but it is a long- term solution for many people.

You may apply using your cell phone, tablet, or computer.
