RENO HOUSING AUTHORITY RECOGNIZES HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER LANDLORDS

The Reno Housing Authority (RHA) recognized 12 landlords during “The Road Home Luncheon”.

The RHA partners with more than 400 landlords, as part of our landlord program, to make housing happen. Landlords who accept Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) holders allow individuals and families a choice in where they live and reduce the amount of affordable housing needed to be built.

Nationally, the percentage of households who are issued a voucher and are able to secure housing is 50-60 percent. This is heartbreaking for households, some who may have waited for years to receive life-changing housing assistance.

RHA’s rate is above 90 percent thanks to landlords who participate in the program. The importance of this partnership is evident when voucher holders share their stories about the impact landlords have had.

“By partnering with landlords, the RHA is able to increase the supply of quality, affordable housing available throughout our community,” said Kathleen Taylor, RHA board chair. “As we continue to face a severe shortage of affordable, sustainable living options in Washoe County, we welcome interested landlords to contact RHA about the many financial and community benefits of renting to these tenants.”

For more information please contact RHA’s Landlord Liaison Perla Zepeda at 775-329-3630 x272 or pzepeda@renoha.org.
