Funding will support the creaton of 57 units of affordable housing for Washoe County residents
Reno, Nev.– Reno Housing Authority (RHA) has partnered with Clearinghouse Community Development Financial Insttuton and Wells Fargo Natonal Bank West to receive a $600,000 and a $1.2 million Affordable Housing Program (AHP) Nevada Targeted Fund grants, respectvely, from FHLBank San Francisco which will create 57 affordable housing units for lower-income families and individuals in Washoe County.
“RHA is honored to receive $600,000 for Hope Landing, our 15-unit permanent supportve housing development,” said Hilary Lopez, Ph.D., executve director of RHA. “The award makes it possible for RHA to provide safe, stable housing and on-site services to those who have experienced chronic homelessness.”
AHP grants contribute to the development or preservaton of single-family and multfamily housing that serves people in need, including lower-income families, the chronically unhoused, families, seniors,veterans, at-risk youth, people living with disabilites and mental health challenges or overcoming substance abuse, and many others.
“The $1.2 million award for the Reno Avenue Development will support our efforts to provide affordable housing in high-opportunity neighborhoods,” said Hilary Lopez, Ph.D., executve director of RHA.
“Residents will have access to nearby schools and can easily walk to the Truckee River, and some of our areas largest employers.”
Once complete, Reno Avenue will provide 42 one- and two-bedroom units with a shared outdoor space that will include a barbecue and picnic area, playground, dog park, and onsite parking.
The Bank’s member financial insttutons work in partnership with community-based housing developers or providers to compete for AHP General Fund or Nevada Targeted Fund grants by submitng applicatons for specific projects in an annual funding competton. In total, for the 2026 program cycle, the Bank’s AHP awarded funding for 45 affordable housing projects, including 34 in California, five in Arizona, and six in Nevada.
“Partnerships like these, including Clearinghouse Community Development Financial Insttuton and Wells Fargo Natonal Bank West and Reno Housing Authority are essental to increasing the supply of affordable housing and improving access to housing across the communites we serve,” said Tom Dapice,community investment officer at FHLBank San Francisco.
“By working closely with our members and their community partners, we are able to support financing that helps bring new housing to market and preserve existng homes, expanding opportunity and helping ensure more individuals and families can afford a stable place to live.”
Since the inception of its AHP in 1990, FHLBank San Francisco has partnered with its members to award $1.48 billion in AHP grants to help fund the development of preservation of nearly160,000 units of affordable housing, helping hundreds of thousands of people throughout California, Arizona, Nevada, and other regions served by FHLBank San Francisco members, have an affordable place to call home.
