RHA Breaks Ground on 199 Unit Affordable Housing Complex

Designed for AMI between 20-80 percent

RENO, Nev. — The Reno Housing Authority (RHA) and Brinshore Development will celebrate the groundbreaking of 199 new affordable apartment units. The development will serve individuals and families with Area Median Incomes between 20 to 80 percent. The combination of funding, including Home Means Nevada and Washoe County HOME Consortium funds helped make this opportunity possible.

RHA partnered with Brinshore Development, a national firm focused on residential mixed-income developments, to build 199 units on the former Hawk View Apartments Public Housing site. The new complex will double the number of previous units, making it the largest new development in RHA’s history

“RHA’s dedication to provide safe, stable, permanently affordable housing continues with this groundbreaking,” RHA Board of Commissioners’ Chair Kathleen Taylor said. “The RHA Board is honored to support such a foundational issue in our community.”

Media is invited to:
• What: Groundbreaking at former Hawk View Apartments’ site
• When: Thursday, May 15, 2025, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
• Where: 2531 Tripp Drive, Reno, NV 89512

“RHA is proud to celebrate the soon-to-be addition of 199 new affordable units for our community,” RHA Executive Director Dr. Hilary Lopez said. “We appreciate the generous support of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, for funding the vision for this property, and to the State of Nevada, and Washoe County, the Cities of Reno and Sparks for awarding Home Means Nevada and Washoe County HOME Consortium monies, we can’t do it without you.”

“We are honored to enter the Reno market and contribute to the availability of quality, affordable housing in the region,” Brinshore Development Co-Founding Principal David Brint said. “This strategic partnership with the Reno Housing Authority will have a meaningful impact on residents and their families.”
