Waitlists Open for Affordable Housing Programs

The Reno Housing Authority opened all waitlists on April 15, 2024, for both the public housing program and housing choice voucher, previously known as Section 8, program.

To apply, individuals should access RenoHA.org and click the waitlist banner at the top of the homepage, or visit the RHA main office at 1525 E. 9th Street in Reno. The waitlists are set to close May 3, 2024.

“Opening the waitlists provides an additional resource to individuals and families struggling to secure affordable housing in Washoe County,” said Executive Director Hilary Lopez, Ph.D.

While submitting an application will not house someone tomorrow, it begins the process to obtain permanent affordable housing for low-income households, which is the mission of the RHA. Households are encouraged to apply for the programs that best fit their housing needs.

Lopez said, “The Reno Housing Authority has been a resource in our community for more than 80 years. We provide solutions to our area’s housing needs through our public housing, rental assistance programs, and expanded housing opportunities, helping fulfill a basic need in Northern Nevada.”

RHA offers language assistance, including interpretation and translation services, to applicants who are limited English proficient. Additionally, if you are a person with a disability who requires special accommodation in order to have equal access to RHA’s programs, please call 775-329-3630, come to our office, or notify us in the manner most convenient for you.

Reno Housing Authority helps more than 15,000 people each year secure safe, quality housing through a variety of programs.

To qualify, all households must meet income and other eligibility requirements. Visit RenoHA.org.
