Section 3

As part of our mission, RHA seeks to provide economic opportunities for low-income residents. RHA strongly encourages the participation of small businesses, HUD Section 3 businesses, as well as minority-owned and women-owned business enterprises.

What is Section 3?

Section 3 is a provision of the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Act of 1968. The purpose of Section 3 is to ensure that employment and other economic opportunities generated by certain HUD financial assistance shall, to the greatest extent feasible, and consistent with existing Federal, State and local laws and regulations, be directed to low- and very low income persons, particularly those who are recipients of government assistance for housing, and to business concerns which provide economic opportunities to low- and very low-income persons.

It is the policy and intention of the Housing Authority of the City of Reno to comply in all of its policies and procedures affecting all of its programs and activities, including employment and housing, with all federal, state, and local regulations, prohibiting discrimination on the basis of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, age, family status or disabilities. As part of this compliance RHA has a reasonable accommodation/reasonable modification policy for persons with disabilities.
